Counterpoint to a bygone era, Pola Pool is a nod to the 80s. Since 1984 I have been carrying out this photographic, sociological and aesthetic research on the theme “Body and water” in France and throughout the world. At the time, I took my camera around the water in the swimming pools, without frightening anyone, in complete freedom, without any embarrassment or authorization. No one cared. Hence this closeness, this sensuality, this Dolce Vita that emanates from my photos.
All these freedoms have been diluted in regulations, bans, image rights … my black and white photos from the 80s to 2000s stand as a testimony to a bygone era.
Since 2014, I have taken the path of swimming pools, private pools, authorizations, models and seaside. The image is squared with Polaroid, an aesthetic dive into the 80s, a look of great proximity, intense, sensual, provocative, Pool Party spirit. I often only do an image with faded colors, taut graphics, millimeter framing.
